Linton-Stockton boys basketball coach Joey Hart has been suspended indefinitely following an arrest in Shelby County for DUI.
According to court documents, on March 13th at approximately 8:35 p.m., police were called to the area of West State Road 44 near Marietta Road in Shelby County for reports of an impaired driver. A witness told police that as they were following Hart’s vehicle they saw him cross the center line multiple times and struggled to stay in the right lane, at one point driving down the center of the roadway with several “close calls” where the vehicle almost wrecked into oncoming traffic. Police said once they caught up to the vehicle they saw the driver roll through a stop sign, once pulled over the officer noted “an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle.” Upon questioning Hart was unsure of his location. Hart was taken to a hospital for a blood draw for testing before being booked into the Shelby County Jail on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Once at the jail Hart reportedly refused another breathalyzer test. A statement from Dr. Kathy Goad, Linton-Stockton Schools Superintendent reads that Hart has been suspended indefinitely. Assistant Coach Noah Hawkins will take over the head coaching duties immediately and until further notice.

Purdue’s Zach Edey and Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis have given the Big Ten Conference a third straight year with multiple first-team Associated Press All-America picks in men’s basketball, while Kansas has had a second straight first-teamer in Jalen Wilson. The 7-foot-4, 305-pound Edey appeared on all 58 ballots as a first-team selection from AP Top 25 voters as the lone unanimous pick in results released Tuesday. Houston’s Marcus Sasser and Alabama’s Brandon Miller joined Edey and Wilson on the first team in representing each of the NCAA tournament’s No. 1 seeds. Jackson-Davis, a 6-9 fourth-year forward, is Indiana’s first first-team selection since Victor Oladipo in 2013. He’s averaging 20.8 points and 10.9 rebounds while taking a leap with his passing (4.1 assists, up from 1.9 last season).
The Colts have parted ways with a big name at cornerback. The team has reportedly traded Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore in a deal with the Cowboys. Dallas will send back a fifth-round compensatory pick for the 2023 NFL draft, according to the NFL Network.
The Colts are also reportedly planning to release Matt Ryan after one year. The move comes after he was benched for Sam Ehlinger and later Nick Foles during the season. He leaves the team with a 4-12 record in his starts. He recorded 14 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, and a career-high 15 fumbles on a 67% pass completion rate. Ryan will still receive $12 million from the Colts, a guarantee that was not in his previous contract.
Whomever the Carolina Panthers draft first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, it seems the team already has a bridge quarterback lined up.
The Panthers are expected to reach a deal with veteran quarterback Andy Dalton on a two-year, $10 million contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal reportedly includes $8 million guaranteed and a maximum value of $17 million.
