The NCAA men’s tournament bracket was revealed on Sunday with Alabama announced as the No. 1 overall seed playing out of the South region. Houston was announced as the second No. 1 seed ahead of a Kansas team that projected as a top overall seed before losing in the Big 12 tournament semifinals to Texas. The Jayhawks earned the third overall No. 1 seed, while Purdue claimed the final No. 1 seed in the East region as Big Ten champions.

Defending champ Kansas head coach Bill Self was discharged from the hospital on Sunday after he received a heart catheterization and had two stents implemented in his heart. Self, 60, was checked into the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City on Wednesday and missed the Big 12 tournament. He said in a statement that he was set to rejoin the Jayhawks this week ahead of the men’s NCAA basketball tournament and the hospital said that he would make a full recovery.
Scottie Scheffler earned another huge victory and another massive check on Sunday at The Players Championship. Scheffler claimed his sixth career PGA Tout title, which came with a $4.5 million payday. He ran off five straight birdies in the middle of his round, built a 6-shot lead and left all the drama to everyone else on his way to a 3-under 69 to win the richest prize on the PGA Tour by 5 shots. Tyrrell Hatton closed with a back-nine 29 and finished solo second. That netted him $2,725,000.
William Byron took the lead in overtime and won Sunday’s 317-mile NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway. Byron led 59 of the race’s first 60 laps before falling behind Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson. Kevin Harvick took the lead in the final stage and appeared on his way to victory before late-race cautions gave Byron a chance to regain first. The win was Byron’s second straight.
