Janis “Jan” R. Veale, 66, passed away at 3:32 pm on February 21, 2023 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, IN. Jan was born on November 24, 1956 in Effingham, IL and is the daughter of Earl and Emalene Julie (Durham) Carie. She married Charles E. Veale on September 13, 1994.
Jan had worked as a sales associate for Wal-Mart until her retirement. Some of Jan’s interests were fishing, hunting, camping, and arts and crafts.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Veale of Washington; her children, Cory Ridgley, Kyle Ridgley, Carey Ridgley, Amanda Veale, Eric Ridgley, Charles Edwin Veale; her siblings, Rete Carie and her spouse Cindy Houston, Moe Carie and his wife Jane, Ruth Ann (Annie) Frey, Carol Steele and her husband Fred, Jack Carie and his wife Posey, Joanie Carie, Judy Cooley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Julie Carie, sister, Emalene Carie, brothers, Tim Carie and Joe Carie, brother-in-law, Wayne Frey, and her sister-in-law, Eva Carie.
Jan’s wishes were to be cremated and her family will hold a celebration of life service at a date and time to be determined. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Jan and her family.
