Charles O. Donaldson, Jr

Charles O. Donaldson, Jr., 92, passed away at his Emerald Place residence in Washington on Sunday, February 19, 2023. He was born on July 4, 1930, in Washington, to Charles Overton, Sr., and Emily Marie (Mitchell) Donaldson. Charles was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School.
Charles began building homes with his father, Charles O. (“Doc”) Sr. around the age of ten, and carried on his father’s craft in the Washington area for another sixty-plus years into his seventies. He built his homes with a meticulous attention to detail and prided himself on the highest level of quality in craftsmanship. To this day, people still covet a “Donaldson-built” home. He enjoyed carpentry work, cars and trucks, was an avid handyman, and loved caring for his feisty Goldendoodle, Happy.
Charles is survived by his children: David (Tami) Donaldson of Washington, Lynn (Mike) Healy of Montgomery, and Amy (Kevin) Pollard of Dallas, Texas; his eight grandchildren: Julie (Scot) Stewart, Brian (Jill) Colvin, Katie (Jeremy) Wininger, Aaron (Molly) Healy, Rachael Donaldson, Renee (Justin) Huff, Zach Pollard, and Madeline Pollard; his great-grandchildren: Jenna and Savannah Stewart, Mara, Graham and Ben Colvin, Nolan Wininger, Lainie Donaldson, Carli and Jase Huff; his brother, Steve (Cheryl) Donaldson of Danville, Indiana; and sister, Nell (Kenny) Reed of Washington.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles O. Sr. and Emily Donaldson; his wife, Mary Louise Donaldson; and sister, Charmaigne Atwood.
Visitation for Charles Donaldson, Jr. will be 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.
Funeral services for Charles Donaldson, Jr. will immediately follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 pm, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary. Yvonne Evans will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
