Barbara Ellen Kirk

Barbara Ellen Kirk, 88, passed away at 1:25 am on February 9, 2023, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. Barbara was born on August 18, 1934, in Bicknell, Indiana, and she was the daughter of John and Dorothy (Howard) Clinkenbeard. Barbara married Edwin “Ed” L. Kirk on April 1, 1956, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2020.
 
Barbara was a member of Community Church of Vincennes and retired from the South Knox School Corporation as a guidance secretary. She was a member of the Mary Martha’s Women’s Club; her hobbies were playing cards with her friends and making noodles with her church group.
 
Survivors include her sons, Christopher Kirk and his wife Nicole of Washington, Craig Kirk and his wife Debbie of Vincennes; her siblings, Bill Clinkenbeard and his wife Karen of Bruceville, Jim Clinkenbeard and his wife Linda of Vincennes, Bruce Clinkenbeard and his wife Sally of Freelandville, Mary Yagle and her husband Danny of Clarksville, TN, and Richard Clinkenbeard of Terre Haute, IN; her grandchildren, Mark Kirk, Lauren, Carly, and Hallie Kirk and Brian Austin; her great grandchildren, Jaycesten, Adleigh, and Olivia Austin and Mena Robinson and sister-in-law, Lil Clinkenbeard of Freelandville; and brother-in-law, John Bobe of Vincennes. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Clinkenbeard, her sister, Carol Bobe; her brother, John Clinkenbeard; and her sister-in-law, Jill Clinkenbeard.
The family wishes to thank the health care providers at Deaconess Gateway Hospital and especially the nursing staff at the Linda E. White Hospice House for the care provided to our mom over the last two weeks.
 
Friends may visit with Barbara’s family from 5- 8 pm on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN. Barbara’s funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Community Church of Vincennes, 1548 S. Hart Street Road, Vincennes, IN with Pastor Darren Williams officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Church of Vincennes, South Knox Education Foundation or Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus.
