Cause Found for Evansville Home Explosion

The explosion in Evansville on Aug. 10 destroyed houses, killed three people, and shattered nerves. Now the Evansville Fire Department and Indiana State Fire Marshal say it was an accident caused by a leaky gas pipe in the basement… Evansville Fire Department Division Chief Mike Larson says he believes they got it right. The cap was off the line, a valve was open, and the meter showed it had been leaking for two days before it blew up.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office calls it an accident. No foul play is suspected.
