Fred Couples has gone deep into the red numbers in the past. He shot 64 in each of his victories at the TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium Course, including the final round in 1996 when he became the first two-time winner at the Stadium. It was a record for the lowest final-round score by a winner in Players history. Couples was also the first of nine players to shoot a 63 at The Players, which remains the low score in tournament history. But he didn’t hesitate in labeling his 60 last Sunday in the final round of the SAS Championship at the Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, N.C., his best round ever. For one thing, it was his 14th PGA Tour Champions victory (he has 15 on the PGA Tour) and is a record closing score for a winner .Couples who is 63, won for the first time in over 5 years and is the second player in Champions Tour history to shoot 60 and beat his age at the same time. Walter Morgan fired a 60 at the AT&T Senior Canadian Open in 2002 at the age of 61.
It seems like there’s either weird or bad news out of the NFL’s Washington football team on a daily basis. Well today is no different for the 2 and 4 last place team….The Washington Commanders awarded a season ticket holder $14,822 for winning the 50-50 raffle during their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 12 this season. The only problem is the check from the franchise bounced. The fan, named Drew, told a Washington radio station “The Team 980-AM” that when he went to deposit the check into his account from “Washington Football Team Charitable Foundation,” the check never cleared. He sent the station pictures of the check as proof. The Commanders staff said it was a bank issue and have direct deposited money into the winners account.
NFL Thursday night football matchup tonight on Amazon prime is a duo of 2 and 4 teams with the Saints visiting the Cardinals. Kickoff is 8:15 and the Cardinals are a 2 ½ point favorite.
When the Padres bats get going, they really get going. After falling behind 4-0 early in Game 2, San Diego stormed back, flipping the script in a five-run fifth inning that echoed their decisive rally against the Dodgers. Austin Nola and Juan Soto doubled in runs to end Phillies starter Aaron Nola’s day, and the scoring didn’t stop against the bullpen. The Padres wound up with an 8-5 win to even up the NLCS as it heads back to Philadelphia. In the American League Justin Verlander gets the win in game 1 of the ALCS 4-2 over the New York Yankees.
