Michael James Miller

Michael James “Mike” Miller struck the last chord of his life-song on Tuesday, October 4th.

He left our world after a brief and sudden illness.  He passed away in the company of his family, embraced by music and comforting words from friends and loved ones.

We have great solace in that Mike conquered a great deal in his 62 short years on this earth.

Knowing Mike was to know the culmination of sprit and intelligence, creativity and a huge heart.

Mike was an Indiana native who grew up in Vincennes and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1978 and then went on to Vincennes University.

Mike was a dedicated and remarkably accomplished song writer and professional musician.  A graduate of the US Navy Nuclear Power  program,  he served for 6 years in the submarine force. Following his military service, he returned for more “schooling” and graduated top of his class at Indiana University School of Nursing.  He then moved to Nashville, Tn. to pursue his true passion, music, a career that lasted for more than 2 decades.

In his world travels, he embraced the principle of the oneness of humankind through peace and harmony. He then practiced this faith as an active member of the Vincennes Baha’i Community.

Mike was a cherished  brother to Susie Miller King (Michael), Phil Miller (Mary Ann), and Kathy Schwartz (Todd).

He was a loving uncle to Mitchell, Karli, Cameron, Cole and Ryan.  He will be missed by his cousins, Terri and Bruce Miller and family, as well as a large extended family and multitudes of friends and acquaintences who were also blessed to know him.

Funeral services are entrusted to Goodwin-Sievers funeral home in Vincennes, Indiana on Saturday, October 8th from 11 am – 2 pm with brief service following. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Michael.
