Had a very historic and unique situation on Tuesday night in volleyball. On the same night 3 players reached the 1000 career assist club. Congratulations to Loogootee’s Brooklyn Summers, Barr Reeves Dylan DeCoursey and Emma Wagler for that outstanding career milestone.
Volleyball last night, the Washington Hatchets lost in straight sets to Evansville Memorial 13-25, 16-25, 13-25
Tennis sectionals underway and no surprises here.  At the Loogootee it was the host Lions 5-0 over the Jeeps of NE Dubois.  Also at the Loogootee sectional the Barr Reeve Vikings had a nail biter but the Vikings came out on top 3-2 over Paoli.  At the North Daviess sectional it was the Cougars over Bloomfield 5-0

61 years ago in 1961 Roger Maris set the American League single season home run record at 61 home runs and last night New York Yankee Aaron Judge tied that mark with a 370 foot blast to left field off of Blue Jays pitcher Tim Mayza. Yankees win 8 to 3

Jonathan Taylor did not participate in practice for the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday. That is reportedly a first in not just his NFL career, but pretty much his entire organized football career.
The Colts running back was reportedly held out of practice due to a toe NFL Insider Chip Jamerson. The move is reportedly a precautionary one, as Taylor was feeling sore after last week’s win against the Kansas City Chiefs but is expected to play this week against the Tennessee Titans. The top pick in most fantasy drafts this season, Taylor has so far posted 286 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground, plus 43 receiving yards.

Things are changing fast for college sports. The Big Ten’s continued pursuit of four Pac-12 schools is leading to concern that another round of expansion could collapse the west coast conference.  This as Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren continues to seek an offer from Amazon, or potentially another partner, for additional Big Ten football media rights revenue.
An offer deemed substantial enough would likely convince Big Ten presidents that California, Oregon, Stanford and Washington would be valuable additions to the league from the Pac-12.

Once again, Steve Ballmer is the richest owner in all of professional sports.
The former Microsoft CEO, who purchased the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014 for $2 billion, was named the richest owner in sports for the eighth straight year Wednesday by Forbes. Ballmer led Microsoft from 2000-2014. He has a reported net worth of about $83.  New Denver Broncos owner and Walmart heir Rob Walton is second on the list, though he’s  significantly behind Ballmer. Walton is reportedly worth about $57 billion, Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC owner David Tepper is third on the list at about $18.5 billion. Memphis Grizzlies owner Robert Pera and New York Mets owner Steve Cohen round out the top five.
