Golf Sectionals

As I predicted on Friday, for the 2nd year in a row,  it was a Daviess County Sweep at the IHSAA Golf Sectional at High Point CC.  The Barr Reeve Vikings bring home their 3rd consecutive team title with a program record 337.  The Washington Hatchets finished  2nd with a 367 and the North Daviess Cougars were close behind finishing  3rd and move on to the regional with a 372. In the chase for the individual sectional championship Barr Reeve’s Olivia Emmons wins her 2nd consecutive sectional title shooting a 75, Barr Reeve’s Lauren Knepp was second with an 83. Emma Yoder tops the Cougars with an 85 and Izzy Howell led the Hatchets with an 86.

 Brooklyn Sturgeon from North Knox also qualified for the regional on non qualifying team with an 85. Stay tuned to Shake Broadcasting Sports all week for regional coverage.

Jasper won their 5th consecutive sectional shooting a 347 at Buffalo Trace, Gibson So was 2nd and Boonville was 3rd.

Volleyball

At the Pike Central Round Robin the Washington Hatchets defeated South Knox and Pike Central 2-0 in each match.

At the South Spencer invitational the North Daviess Cougars beat Clarksville and lost to South Spencer

At the TH South Invitational the Barr Reeve Vikings beat Evansvile Reitz, Evansville Christian and Terre Haute South and lose to Avon 2-1 in the finale.

Tennis

Washington picked up a pair of conference wins as they defeated Mt Vernon and South Spencer by scores of 3-2.

Cross Country

At the South Knox invitational boys race the Barr Reeve Vikings finished 5th in the 11 team field with South Knox finishing 6th. Avon took home the title. Paxton Traylor of BR finished 5th with only 4A runners in front of him in the 241 runner field

In the girl race Mater Dei was the champion with Pike Central in 4th Barr Reeve 8th and South Knox and North Knox finishing 10th and 11th.  Xavery Weisman of Pike Central finishes first overall out of 164 runners.

Dom Mattingly had 3 goals and Alan Santillan adds a goal. Hatchets now 10-2 overall and 8-0 in the PAC on the season.

It wasn’t pretty but the Indianapolis Colts get a 21-16 win over the Bears. Jonathan Taylor was stellar rushing 23 times for 110 yards and 2 TD’s, If you’re not at the game make sure and listen to all Colts broadcasts on Razor Radio Sports.

The Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark is named the unanimous Associated Press WNBA rookie of the year but the Connecticut Sun spoil Clark’s playoff debut with a 93-69 victory.
