Mary Ann (Metheny) Rollins

Mary Ann (Metheny) Rollins, 79, passed away during the morning hours of September 19, 2024. She was born in Washington on February 22, 1945, to Floyd L. and Anna (Shedelbower) Metheny. Her husband, Darrell Rollins, whom she married April 20, 2014, now mourns her passing.

A graduate of Washington Catholic High School, Mary Ann went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Vincennes University as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was retired from her duties as an LPN at the Washington Nursing Center. Mary Ann enjoyed the outdoors and liked to go camping. She was happiest when spending time with her family. She was also known to be a wonderful cook. Her family will miss her homemade cherry delight and cheesecakes. Mary Ann was a member of the New Hope Christian Church.

Those who now cherish Mary Ann’s memory include her husband of ten years, Darrell Rollins; son, Tom (Trina) Hughey and daughter, Lorraine “Lorrie” (Don) Williams all of Washington. Mary Ann also had three beloved “bonus” daughters and their families: Lesia (Dewayne) Wilson of Wilkinson; Anita L. (Bert) Mattingly of Washington; and Kelley (Phil) Hart of Hudsonville. Mary Ann was blessed with six grandchildren: Austin Hughey; Hannah (Colby) Rigg; Kyle T. (Mylena Bouter) Hughey; Briann Hughey; Emma Williams; and Jarit Williams; four great-grandchildren: Molly Hughey; Lincoln Rigg; Leighton Rigg; and Olivia Rigg. Additionally, Mary Ann leaves a sister, Phyllis Sharum of Washington and a brother, David (Rita) Metheny of Fairview Heights, Illinois.

During her lifetime, Mary Ann mourned the loss of her parents, Floyd and Anna Metheny; son, Phillip Dean Hughey; and siblings: Madonna Waldrop, Charles Metheny, and John Metheny.

Visitation for Mary Ann Rollins will be 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, Monday, September 23, 2024, at the New Hope Christian Church, 559 East 100 South, Washington, Indiana.

Funeral services for Mary Ann Rollins will immediately follow the visitation on September 23, 2024, and begin at 1:00 pm, also at the New Hope Christian Church. Mary Ann’s grandson, Collin Mattingly, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sugarland Memory Gardens.
