On the evening of September 2, 2024, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a fatal shooting at a residence on State Road 257, just north of the river bridge. Around 8:17 p.m., Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call reporting an altercation between two men, both armed, in a driveway. Shots were fired, resulting in the death of one individual. The family of the deceased has been notified, and all parties involved are cooperating with the investigation. The case will be reviewed by the Daviess County Prosecutor’s Office once the investigation is complete. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by several local agencies.
