A Jasper woman, Michele Rose, has been sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison after pleading guilty to five counts of fraud. Rose, 62, served as the Medical Staff Coordinator for a nonprofit organization for several years. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, between March 2011 and December 2020, Rose exploited her position by writing fake checks to herself from the nonprofit’s medical staff account, stealing over $153,769. Investigators revealed that Rose concealed these fraudulent transactions by omitting them from the organization’s monthly financial reports. The stolen funds were originally intended to benefit the local community.
