shooting-investigation-2022
An Oakland City man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Pope County, Illinois. 40-year-old Floyd Caudill of Oakland City was found guilty in a jury trial on July 30 for sexual misconduct with a minor, child molesting, and domestic battery. He was not present at the trial but had legal counsel appear for him. A warrant was issued following the guilty verdict, and a manhunt took place. Officers tracked him to a tent in Lake Glendale Campground in Pope County. When officers arrived, he refused to exit the tent, and a shot was fired from inside. A deputy marshal then returned fire, and Caudill was found dead inside. The investigation is ongoing, and an autopsy will be conducted.
