Controlled Burn Gets Out of Hand in Washington

fire-2-2

On August 10, at approximately 7:58 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to a reported house fire at 1000 W Old US Highway 50, Washington. Upon arrival, it was determined that a controlled burn had gotten out of control, causing damage to nearby property, including melted siding. State police were first on the scene and advised that the situation was not a full-blown house fire but rather a burn that had escalated. Although the fire department was initially told to stand down, they were already on-site and assisted in fully extinguishing the fire. All units cleared the scene by 8:24 p.m. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
