Two Arrested in Jasper Traffic Stop: Drugs and Neglect Charges Filed

Last night, at approximately 9:48 p.m., officers from the Jasper Police Department initiated a traffic stop on US 231 near Twelfth Avenue for speeding. During the stop, officers detected the odor of marijuana, leading to a search of the vehicle. The search uncovered marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, and Xanax. The driver, 20-year-old Madilyn K. Stiles of Bloomington, displayed signs of impairment and refused a chemical test. A search warrant was obtained, and the test results came back positive for cannabis, cocaine, and benzodiazepines. Stiles was subsequently charged with multiple offenses, including neglect of a dependent, operating while intoxicated, and possession of marijuana. The passenger, 28-year-old Jarvel W. Whitfield, also of Bloomington, was found in possession of drugs while being processed at the Dubois County Security Center. Whitfield faces charges including possession of cocaine, marijuana, and a controlled substance, as well as trafficking into jail.
