Brake Failure Leads to Collision in Jasper, Injuring Two

Jasper, Indiana – A collision occurred on Newton Street when a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer, driven by Jacob P. Thacker of Jasper, failed to stop at a traffic light due to brake failure. The vehicle struck the rear of a 2022 International semi-trailer, driven by Samuel T. Billin of Wyoming, Michigan. The impact caused the Mountaineer to become lodged underneath the trailer. Thacker and his passenger both reported neck pain and minor abrasions. They were transported to Memorial Hospital by EMS for treatment. The Mercury Mountaineer was deemed a total loss, while the semi-trailer sustained approximately $10,000 in damages.
