Discover Downtown Washington Hosts Strategic Planning Meetings with OCRA and Indiana Main Street

discover-washington

Discover Downtown Washington hosted members of OCRA, the Office of Community and Rural Affairs, and Indiana Main Street yesterday for a series of meetings to gather feedback from community leaders, board members, and volunteers about the downtown district and set strategic priorities for downtown in the next two to three years. OCRA and Indiana Main Street led the meetings and presented the community with the results of a recent survey conducted online by the community. The results were mostly positive, and the community is excited about the direction downtown Washington is going. Some things to work on were also presented, including more events downtown, later hours and weekend hours for retail businesses on Main Street, and parking. The one-way street was also discussed, as were the possibilities of going back to a two-way street. Discover Downtown Washington would like to thank all those who participated. The survey results, as well as feedback from yesterday, will now be taken into consideration as the city works to become an Indiana Main Street. Upcoming events downtown include the Farmers Market every Saturday from 8-1 all this month and the upcoming Color Run scheduled for August 31st. To find out more about the group, follow the Discover Downtown Washington Facebook page or website.
