Man’s Body Recovered from Patoka Lake in Possible Drowning Incident

Indiana DNR Conservation Officers are investigating a possible drowning after the body of a man was recovered Sunday evening from Patoka Lake. Authorities were notified that a male had disappeared under the water near the Painter Creek boat ramp around 6 p.m. Divers from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Law Enforcement recovered the body at 8:13 p.m. using sonar. The swimmer’s identity is being withheld pending family notification. Assisting agencies included the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Orange County Rural Fire District 1, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, IU Health Paoli, and Indiana State Police.
