The Martin County Sheriff’s Office has reported receiving calls about an individual impersonating Sergeant Wells and demanding several hundred dollars to avoid arrest.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that while they do have a Sergeant Wells, they will never request money over the phone to prevent an arrest.
Residents are urged not to provide any personal information if they receive such a call.
