AgroRenew to Break Ground on Biodegradable Plastic Facility in Vincennes

2024-06-13

AgroRenew, a bioplastic startup, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new manufacturing facility on June 19 at 10:00 a.m. at 701 E. Elkhorn Rd. This facility will transform Knox County crop waste into 100% biodegradable plastics. AgroRenew’s bioplastics will offer sustainable alternatives to single-use items like straws and grocery bags. Unlike petroleum-based plastics, AgroRenew’s products will decompose in soil within six months, reducing their environmental impact. Recruitment for the new facility will begin in July, with applications opening in late summer. AgroRenew will prioritize retaining local talent and attracting individuals who have left the area for science and engineering roles. The company will begin hiring for positions in business operations, food science, engineering, quality, and production this summer. AgroRenew plans to invest $83 million by 2026 to complete the 196,000 sq. ft. facility, which will span 20 acres and employ over 300 people.
