UPDATE: Fourth Fatality in Memorial Day I-69 Crash in Washington

The traffic accident on I-69 near the 56.5-mile marker on Memorial Day has claimed a fourth life. On June 5th, 68-year-old Jeffrey Richardson of Lakeland, Florida, succumbed to his injuries from the incident. Richardson, the sole occupant of a Nissan Frontier, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-69 when his vehicle collided head-on with a 2021 Chevy Traverse. The driver of the Chevy Traverse attempted to avoid Richardson’s vehicle but was unsuccessful. Three individuals in the Chevy Traverse died at the scene: 30-year-old Chelot Corelien from Washington, 29-year-old Tenisha Thompson from Washington, and a third adult male passenger whose identity has not yet been made public. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office expresses condolences to the families and friends of all involved. The office also acknowledges the community’s awareness of the third passenger’s identity and asks for understanding as the investigation continues. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by multiple agencies, including the Washington Police Department, Washington City Fire Department, Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, Cannelburg Volunteer Fire Department, the Daviess County Ambulance Service, the Daviess County Coroner’s Office, the Indiana State Police, Briggeman’s Wrecker Service, and Countryside Wrecker Service.
