Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced on Tuesday morning that Microsoft will invest $1 billion in a new data center in northwest Indiana. This marks the fourth major data center announcement in Indiana this year. Microsoft plans to build a 245,000-square-foot data center on 489 acres at the Radius Industrial Park in La Porte. The project is expected to create up to 200 jobs by the end of 2032. The new facility will support Microsoft’s cloud and drive digital transformation through cloud computing and AI. The La Porte data center will be part of Microsoft’s global cloud infrastructure, which includes more than 60 Azure regions, over 300 data centers, 280,000 kilometers of network, and more than 190 edge sites. Microsoft will hire for various roles, including environment engineers, IT technicians, security personnel, and site managers.
