Judith “Judy” Rose Foster

Judith “Judy” Rose Foster, 87, a beloved member of the community of Washington, IN, went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2024 at 1:18pm. Born on April 7, 1937, in Jasper, IN, to the late Gilbert and Josephine Denu. Judy was known for her dedication to her family, her faith, and her community.
 
Judy was a member of the Veale Creek Baptist Church in Washington, finding solace and strength in her faith. Her commitment to services extended beyond the walls of the church, as she volunteered for RSVP for several years, embodying the spirit of selflessness and compassion. She worked as a casher for Buehler’s IGA, and a clerk for K-Mart up until its closing in Washington.
 
In her leisure time, Judy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a green thumb and took pride in her expansive garden, where she nurtured and cared for plants with love and dedication. An ardent supporter of local sports, Judy was a devoted fan of Washington Hatchet and Indiana University basketball.
 
Her love for nature was evident in her hobbies, from working on jigsaw puzzles to bird watching and holding events at her home where she cherished spending time with friends and family. Judy’s enthusiasm for life extended to her support of the local little league, where she could often be seen cheering on her kids and grandkids with unwavering enthusiasm.
 
Those left to cherish Judy’s memories include her children, Debbie Ruckreigle of Washington, IN, James (Lori) Alexander of Valparaiso, IN, Lynn (Mike Jones) May of Washington, IN, Randy (Lori) Alexander of Michigan City, IN, Jenny Ruston of Washington, IN, David (Pam) Alexander of Terre Haute, IN, Carolyn (Wayne) Bethel of Owensboro, KY, and Mary Spaulding of Washington, IN; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Foster; her son, Bobbie Foster; her brothers, Ronnie and Bobby Denu; and her granddaughter, Ellice Alexander.
 
Visitation for Judy will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 4:00-8:00pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. Visitation will be held again on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 10:00-11:00am at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin promptly at 11:00am with Pastor Jim Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the New Veale Creek Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Bob. In liue of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Veale Creek Baptist Church. Donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
