This is Alabama’s first-ever Final Four, Purdue’s first since 1980 and NC State’s first since 1983. Then there’s UConn, which is making its seventh Final Four appearance since 1999.
‌Notes:
A rare feat: NC State is the sixth 11-seed to ever make the Final Four, joining LSU (1986), George Mason (2006), VCU (2011), Loyola Chicago (2018) and UCLA (2021).
The year of the high school coach: UConn’s Danny Hurley, Alabama’s Nate Oats and NC State’s Kevin Keatts were all high school coaches as recently as 2010.
The streak continues: Every men’s tournament since 2013 has had a 5-seed or worse make the Final Four.
Women’s Final 4 is also set and it will be a marquee event like the sport has never seen.
