The Martin County Alliance for Economic Growth and the Chamber of Commerce held their annual dinner last night in Loogootee. Captain Rex Boonyobhas, the commanding officer at Crane, delivered the opening speech. He explained Crane’s impact and the great partnership between the base and Martin County..
Jessica Potts, director of the Alliance, gave an update on the busy year. She highlighted accomplishments from the past year, including a new Readi Grant to establish housing, a revamp of the Alliance website, the new shelter houses at Hindostan that were funded by match dollars from the community, and the development of a new CEO class for Martin County students. And the Gene Shaw Citizen of the Year was named Captain Mike Kirk with the Loogootee Fire Department. Kirk has served the department for over 50 years. The crowd enjoyed a delicious meal, and entertainment was provided by mentalist Daniel Cullen.
