Annual State of the County Address From Montgomery

The Daviess County Chamber of Commerce hosted the Annual State of the County Address yesterday at the Gasthof in Montgomery. County Commissioner Nathan Gabhart and County Council President Tom Schaffer updated the crowd on everything, from completed projects to those that will continue this year. The Courthouse project is the biggest project that is underway, with a cost of just over $13 million. Work began last month. The county’s budget is on pace, and due to the rising interest rates in 2023, the county was able to add a cushion into 2024. Highway superintendent Chris Winkler gave a road update. The session ended with questions from the audience. You can view the full address on our Facebook page at WAMW.
