A groundbreaking ceremony was held at Vincennes University’s former Harrison Hall dormitory site on Monday for the new Health Sciences and Active Learning Center. The facility, set to open by fall 2025, will serve as the university’s new home for healthcare industry students, replacing the current over 50-year-old building. The new center, costing $34 million and spanning 72,000 square feet, aims to promote active learning, according to Andrew Young, the university’s Director for Architectural Services and Facilities. VU President Chuck Johnson praised the center as a crucial development, especially in light of the pandemic’s impact on the need for a strong healthcare workforce. Good Samaritan Hospital CEO Rob McClin noted that the new center will be a vital resource for training future hospital workers.
