Indiana Fire Departments Secure Over $454,000 for Wildland Firefighting

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is channeling more than $454,000 in volunteer fire assistance grants to help 101 rural and volunteer fire departments across 58 counties. These funds will support training and the acquisition of firefighting equipment and gear. The Vincennes Township Fire Department has been granted over $4,800 for water handling needs. The Center-Jackson Township Fire Territory in Greene County secured $5,000 for wildland gear. In Pike County, the Jefferson Township Fire Department received $5,000 for water handling, while the Petersburg Fire Department obtained $5,000 for safety measures. Additionally, the Thunderbird Fire Protection Territory in Sullivan County received $5,000 for safety enhancements.
