New Digital Message Boards Coming to I-70 in Vigo County

VIGO COUNTY – The Indiana Department of Transportation is set to install three full-color digital message boards on Interstate 70 in Vigo County. In the eastbound lane, two signs will be placed—one at the 0.2-mile marker near the Indiana/Illinois state line and the other at the 9.7-mile marker near Fruitridge Avenue. Additionally, a sign will be installed in the westbound lane near the 16-mile marker at the Vigo/Clay County line. To complete this work, there will be a series of 20-minute overnight closures. Starting Monday, Jan. 29, both lanes of I-70 will be closed at each location for the installation of upright structures to hold the signs. Rolling slowdowns and/or stoppages with assistance from Indiana State Police are planned for Jan. 30 and 31 at the westbound and eastbound lanes. The work is expected to conclude on Feb. 1 at the 9.7-mile marker.
