Loogootee City Council Initiates New Year with Key Approvals and Infrastructure Focus

The Loogootee City Council met for the first time in the new year last night under Mayor Brian Ader and several new council members. Council members Carol Rayhill, Dave Smith, Mike Engleman, Jeremy Holland, and Mark McAtee were all in attendance. The council voted and approved Mike Engleman as president.
The Council agreed to disburse over 2 million dollars from projects last year, with a majority covering water and sewer bond renewals. The council also agreed to purchase a second new vehicle for the police department for around 45 thousand dollars. Mayor Ader said he has been in talks with CSX and Frontier about moving lines that have been located in the “Green Space” for the city’s new pavilion project at JFK Avenue. The unforeseen problem has delayed the project. The mayor is set to meet with CSX in Indianapolis next week. A new pool filtration pump will replace one that failed in August at the Loogootee Pool. And Mayor Ader added that they are looking at infrastructure, including paving streets, and other projects for the upcoming year.
The new mayor thanked Clerk-Treasurer Lori Carrico for her hard work getting numbers and information together for the first meeting, welcomed new city attorney Dave Smith, and thanked the previous administration for their help in his transition.
