Washington Catholic’s 7/8th grade Lady Cardinals have started the season strong with a 3-0 start.  Coached by Allyson Gilley and TJ Fry, the Lady Cards defeated Vincennes Rivet Wednesday night with a final score of 28-10.

Girls 7th Grade Barr Reeve 28 Lady Vikings were back on the home court Thursday night.
7th grade led the whole way to a 28-17 victory over Princeton
JJ Knepp led the way with 14 pts.

8th grade Lady Vikings won 28-13 over the Tigers. Shelby Dobson led the Vikings with 13 pts.

The Washington Hatchets 7th Grade Boy’s Basketball Team won Thursday night over Southridge 37-26. They were led by Drew Clawson with 11 points

Indiana hires James Madison’s Curt Cignetti as head coach
Cignetti who’s 62 years old spent the last five seasons at James Madison and oversaw the program’s transition from the FCS level up to the FBS. Cignetti was named the Sun Belt’s Coach of the Year earlier Thursday after leading the Dukes to an 11-1 record this season. JMU is 19-4 in two seasons as a member of the Sun Belt with a 13-3 record in conference play.

For the 1st time the NFL has decided to use it’s power and flexing a Monday night game.  On Thursday The league announced that they flexed the Philadelphia Eagles at Seattle Seahawks game in Week 15 to Monday night. That replaces the Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots game.

The IHSAA has announced that our very own DeWayne Shake will receive the Distinguished Media Service Award for his  contributions to education-based athletics. DeWayne will be recognized on Saturday when the Washington Hatchets host their county rival, the North Daviess Cougars in boys basketball at the Hatchet House. IHSAA Commissioner Paul Neidig and SportsInformation Director Jason Wille will make the presentation.
