Tim Salters, who contested the District 2 Council seat in the recent municipal election, is requesting a recount after losing by a margin of 4 votes. Salters, a former At Large Council member, filed as an independent over the summer to challenge incumbent Republican Ed Gornall. Having submitted a verified petition in Knox Superior Court 2, the court judge’s approval is awaited. If granted, a three-member commission, representing both major parties and a voting system technician, will conduct the recount. The deadline for the recount is December 20th, unless an extension is ordered by the judge.
