Former Clark County Sheriff Arrested on Multiple Felony Charges

Clark County, IN – Former Sheriff Jamey Noel, currently serving as the Utica Volunteer Fire Fighters Association Chief, has been arrested on 15 felony charges following a five-month investigation by the Indiana State Police Special Investigation Division. The investigation, initiated on June 13, stemmed from criminal allegations of official misconduct reported by the current Clark County Sheriff and his personnel. Ripley County Prosecutor Richard J. Hertel reviewed the findings and has filed the following charges against Noel:
One count of Corrupt Business Influence (Level 5 Felony)
Two counts of Theft (Level 5 Felony)
Three counts of Theft (Level 6 Felony)
Four counts of Ghost Employment (Level 6 Felony)
Four counts of Official Misconduct (Level 6 Felony)
One count of Obstruction of Justice (Level 6 Felony)
Noel was apprehended on November 8, 2023, without incident. He is currently held on a cash bond of $75,000.
