Fire Erupts at Jasper Salvage: Quick Response Prevents Spread

Jasper, IN – A fire broke out Thursday morning at Jasper Salvage, involving a trailer loaded with scrap metal and aftermarket truck accessories. Emergency services were alerted around 11:30 am, and firefighters quickly arrived at 610 South Clay Street to find employees pulling the blazing trailer away from nearby structures and equipment within the salvage yard. The fire’s origin was identified near the bottom of the scrap pile. For safety measures, Clay Street was closed during the operation, requiring hoses to be run across the roadway to the nearest hydrant. The Jasper Police Department facilitated street closures, and the Street Department deployed barriers. The road reopened at approximately 1:34 p.m. A total of four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were on the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and damages were contained to the trailer. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined as investigations continue.
