Get ready to embrace the spirit of giving in Daviess County on November 28th as Our Community Foundation, Shake Broadcasting, and the Washington Times-Herald team up to inspire acts of generosity throughout the community for Giving Tuesday. They’re offering fun incentives for participating organizations. The organization that raises the most money will be awarded George the Giving Tuesday Gift Horse by Shake Broadcasting. The Washington Times-Herald plans to honor the group with the most donors by presenting Herald the Reindeer. In 2022, these prestigious titles were claimed by the United Way of Daviess County and Little Warrior Wishes. Our Community Foundation will provide a platform on its website for managing online donations. Donors will be able to visit the website, localforever.org, on Giving Tuesday and contribute to the nonprofit of their choice. The goal is to raise awareness and financial support for local charitable organizations. In 2022, 62 generous donors contributed over $14,600 to 21 different Daviess County charitable organizations and 12 different funds benefiting the county. Mary Smith, Executive Director of Our Community Foundation, hopes for an even more significant impact this year. Daviess County-based charitable organizations looking to join the Giving Tuesday Daviess County initiative can contact Mary Smith at mary@localforever.org.
