Petersburg, IN – The Pike County community is coming together to remember and honor Vance Hays. The retired music teacher and choir director of Pike County School Corporation passed away at the age of 74 after a courageous battle with cancer. Hays dedicated over four decades of his life to the school corporation, leaving an indelible mark first at Winslow Elementary and later at Pike Central Middle High School. Tributes and cherished memories from former students and community members have flooded social media. Private family funeral services for Mr. Hays will be held in Petersburg. A public celebration of his life will take place at a later date in the Pike Central High School Auditorium, a facility proudly named in his honor in November 2016.
