Our Community Foundation Awards $10,000 Grant for Housing Assistance

Washington, IN – In an effort to provide much-needed support to Daviess County residents facing financial setbacks, Our Community Foundation has granted $10,000 to the Salvation Army – Daviess County Service Extension. This grant aims to assist individuals with rent, lodging, or utility bills to help prevent them from losing their homes during difficult times. In 2022, the Emergency Assistance Program provided over $10,000 in financial aid, benefiting 99 Daviess County residents, ranging from infants to seniors. This year’s $10,000 grant is anticipated to support around 50 to 100 households, depending on family size and specific needs. Additional funds for the program will be raised through the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle campaign. For Daviess County residents experiencing financial distress, Connections or Indiana 211 can serve as entry points to assistance. Connections, which maintains a comprehensive database of community resources and contact information for various services, can be reached at (812) 257-2650. Meanwhile, Indiana 211 offers assistance online or by dialing 2-1-1.
