Daviess County Council Approves Comp Time Expenses and Allocates Additional Funds

daviess-county-5

After the Daviess County Council had budget hearings and a lengthy meeting in September, the agenda for the October meeting was short. The Council approved comp time expenses for the Extension Office and $6600 in increased employer HSA contributions. They also appropriated funds received from the Indiana Community Crossings Grant and approved an additional appropriation of $120,000 for road equipment.
In other business, the Council approved a transfer of funds in the West Boggs Park budget, the Child Support Budget, and the Extension Office.
The Council also approved a request from the courts for an additional $250,000 for pauper attorney fees for the remainder of the year.
The Council also heard from Tyler Counsil of the coroner’s office. Counsil reported that the coroner’s office will request an additional $60,000 at the next meeting. Counsil said the number of autopsies performed this year exceeded last year’s total, and the coroner’s budget only has funds for two more autopsies. The council also told the county council members that the county was facing a shortage of morgue space. The next council meeting is scheduled for Nov. 8.
