Traffic Stop Yields Gun and Methamphetamine Charges

On October 3, at around 11:42 PM, officers from the Washington Police Department’s 3rd shift initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of SE 2nd and Hayes Ave. due to a traffic violation. During the stop, the officers discovered controlled substance pills in the possession of 63-year-old Gregory Vories, a resident of Monroe City. With the assistance of WPD 3rd shift Captain and his K9 partner Fen, who signaled the presence of illegal narcotics, a more thorough search of the vehicle was conducted, which led to the discovery of a handgun, suspected methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and items believed to be linked to the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Vories now faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possessing a firearm with an altered ID, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.
