Local and state law enforcement agencies in Lawrenceville launched a search on Monday night in connection to a murder. The operation, centered around the Gas Lite Motel south of Lawrenceville, involved the Vincennes Township Fire Department’s drone and K9 units from Crawford and Wabash County, as well as Knox County, with additional support from an Illinois State Police aircraft. Yesterday, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department provided new information about the suspect in a Facebook post. The individual in question has been identified as Johnathan Torell Kelly. Authorities in Allendale, South Carolina, have issued warrants for his arrest on charges including homicide, kidnapping, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Despite the ongoing search, Lawrenceville Law Enforcement does not believe Kelly poses an immediate threat to the public. Efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect are ongoing.
