A Washington man has been sentenced to 100 years according to the Washington Times Herald… Jairus Drew Allen, a 34-year-old resident of Washington, awaits a lengthy prison sentence exceeding 100 years following his conviction on multiple counts of child sexual abuse. A verdict in Daviess Superior Court found Allen guilty on nine charges, including child molesting, sexual misconduct with a minor, child exploitation, and performing sexual conduct in the presence of a minor. The case against Allen originated in January 2021, alleging a series of molestations involving a girl from June 2019 to September 2020, some occurring while his girlfriend was delivering his child in the hospital. Investigators also accused Allen of taking explicit photographs of the victim. Investigator Aaron Harbstreit of the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department revealed that Allen had employed bribery and coercion to engage in relations with the victim, who was 12 years old when the case began. Daviess Superior Court Judge Dean Sobecki imposed a 103-year sentence. Despite Allen’s claims of innocence, the jury’s verdict affirmed his guilt. Consecutive sentences were ordered. Judge Sobecki stated in his sentencing order that Allen had manipulated and victimized the victim over several years, causing significant harm and injury. The victim is likely to suffer ongoing psychological damage from these repeated offenses. Prosecuting Attorney Dan Murrie praised the jury’s work and the judge’s decision, emphasizing the severity of the case. The pre-sentence investigation noted Allen’s lack of a prior criminal record, regular child support payments, and compliance while on pre-trial release. The court also acknowledged the hardship his imprisonment would impose on his dependents and credited Allen for the 965 days he has already served, along with an additional 321 days.
