James Richard “Jim” Waldroup

James Richard “Jim” Waldroup, 81, passed away at 3:25 am on September 23, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on June 17, 1942 in Sullivan, IN and he is the son of Woodrow and Thelma (Buley) Waldroup. Jim married Shirley Brothers on February 24, 1962.

Jim was a graduate of Oaktown High School and was a carpenter for John Lane Builders for many years until his retirement. Jim enjoyed coin collecting and walking by the George Rogers Clark Memorial, the River Walk and Quabache Trails Park. He was a Jack of all trades and if it could be fixed, Jim would think of a way to do it. Jim was always willing to help any family member or friend with their projects. He was a creative thinker, had a great sense of humor and was quiet, a man of very few words. Most importantly though, Jim was a soul mate and loving husband to Shirley for sixty-one years. He was also a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His favorite saying to his grandchildren was “and I still Love you.”
