Upon arrival at the scene, officers made contact with the sole occupant of Vehicle #1, Ana Arevalo Mejia. Mejia stated that she left the roadway due to mechanical issues and collided with a Jasper City utility pole. The crash resulted in minor injuries to Mejia’s hand from airbag deployment. Due to the damage sustained by the utility pole, Clay Street had to be closed temporarily to address low-hanging utility lines. Jasper Utilities responded to the scene to clear the roadway of the obstructions.
