Purdue Extension Daviess County Launches BTG Medical Interpreting Training

purdue-extension-2

Purdue Extension Daviess County has received grant funding to initiate Bridging the Gap (BTG) medical interpreting training. This program aims to equip individuals with medical interpreting skills to break down language barriers in the community. The BTG course, a nationally recognized 40-hour training, prepares participants to become proficient medical interpreters, regardless of their prior experience. The first training session will begin in November, with another scheduled for spring 2024. Participants are also required to contribute 20 hours of community service using their newfound skills. Purdue Extension is actively seeking partnerships with agencies and organizations for interpreters to gain experience.
