Vincennes Waste Water Treatment Plant Set for Upgrade

Plans are underway to enhance the Vincennes Waste Water Treatment Plant. During a recent Utilities Service Board meeting, a decision was made to proceed with a $6 million bond sale aimed at financing improvements to the plant and the sanitary sewer and stormwater systems. While there are no urgent issues, upgrades are essential to prevent potential future emergencies. Officials say there would be no need for a sewer rate increase, as current rates are capable of handling the additional debt. Furthermore, the sewer department is expected to become entirely debt-free within four years following the bond sale, which addresses projects dating back to 2001. The debt created by this recent bond sale proposal is anticipated to be cleared by 2030. The project is slated for presentation to the Vincennes City Council later this month for their approval.
