Community Gears Up for 2024 Eclipse: First Planning Meeting Held

The first of many meetings was held last night to talk about the upcoming Eclipse of 2024. The event will occur on April 8th, and city and county officials, the EMA, the police and sheriff’s departments, and other agencies are already putting plans in place for what is expected to bring thousands to our community for the rare phenomenon. The Daviess County Chamber of Commerce will serve as the hub for events to keep the community informed on what is going on in our area. Chamber Director Joe Morris told last night’s crowd that the Chamber website will be listing community happenings…

Security was also addressed during last night’s forum. Daviess County Sheriff Gary Allison stated his entire force will be working through the event and says you can expect all types of people to be traveling through the area…

Other topics covered last night were developing Air BnBs and insurance coverage for private events. The informative meeting was attended by around 30 people, and a similar community forum is scheduled for next Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Odon Lions Club for those in Northern Daviess County.
