Huntingburg Public Library Set for Expansion and Upgrades

Huntingburg’s Public Library is set to undergo significant expansion and updates, following plans that have been in discussion for several years. The library’s Board of Trustees has approved the improvements, which include an elevator, energy-efficient lighting, expanded children’s area, new furnishings, and a revamped flow throughout the building. The 1936-built library will also see excavation under its 1994 addition to add almost 1,500 square feet. A south-side addition will house an elevator near the entrance, addressing accessibility concerns. The project aims to better serve the community’s needs and enhance library services. Renovation costs are estimated at $4.1 million, funded by a combination of existing funds, loans, grants, and local donations.
