The Daviess County Commissioners met Tuesday morning and quickly ran through their short agenda.
County Highway Superintendent Chris Winkler reported sidewalks were being laid on the Montgomery Bridge project. Winkler also told the commissioners that some potential bidders for the salt barn project encountered e-mail difficulties and were not able to transmit their bids on time. The commissioners voted to extend the bidding period until 8:00 a.m. Friday morning. Bids for the salt barn will be opened at the County Highway Building at that time.
The Commissioners approved a request from Kim Herbert of RSVP to hold a health fair on the Government Center parking lot after work hours on September 21. The health fair will be held in conjunction with the County Health Department and Daviess Community Hospital.
In other business, the Commissioners approved signing a warranty deed transferring some county-owned land to the Daviess County Airport Board, approved the transfer of a title for a wrecked sheriff’s department vehicle to the insurance company, and accepted Darren Helms resignation from the County Board of Zoning Appeals.
The Commissioners also granted permission for Daviess County EMS to apply for a grant to finance the construction of a stand-alone ambulance headquarters in Washington.
At the end of the meeting, the commissioners discussed the courthouse renovation project. The discussion centered on storage areas during the construction and the order in which the office in the courthouse would move to temporary quarters.
The next commissioners meeting is scheduled for Sept. 12.
