Tony Stewart Racer, Ashlea Albertson, Killed in Tragic I-65 Crash

A fatal crash unfolded on I-65, leading Indiana State Police to initiate a thorough investigation. The incident claimed the life of a young woman from Greenfield who was affiliated with Tony Stewart Racing. The sequence of events involved two drivers, 22-year-old Austin Cooper and 31-year-old Jacob Kelly, both traveling northbound near Seymour. Accounts suggest that the two vehicles were speeding in tandem, preventing each other from overtaking. The situation escalated when Cooper attempted a lane change. Kelly lost control of his vehicle, leading to a collision. During the impact, a 24-year-old passenger named Ashlea Albertson was ejected from Kelly’s car. Despite being rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital, Albertson succumbed to her injuries. Kelly, Cooper, and Cooper’s passenger all sustained injuries that were non-life-threatening. News of Albertson’s tragic passing prompted a response from renowned racing figure and team owner Tony Stewart, who expressed his grief on social media.
